A Central Texas city could be finally getting its first H-E-B after years of requests and hope from residents. Manor, the fast-growing suburb northeast of Austin, will soon be the home of a new 63-acre retail center that is supposed to include some big brands, the Austin American-Statesman reports.

Manor Crossing located at U.S. 290 and FM 973 is reportedly getting a Home Depot, T.J. Maxx, James Avery and an 110,00-square-foot grocery store, according to development plans from Retail Connection. The news comes as Central Texas H-E-B’s were reported to being doing very well for the company as the San Antonio-based grocery chain continues its 2024 plans for growth in the Austin area.

Lance Morris, president of Retail Connection told the Statesman, “Manor is the epicenter of what’s going on.”

The Statesman reports that the grocery store is expected to be an H-E-B based on a parking amendment presented to the Manor City Council last month.

ABJ reported in December 2023 that when New York-based Abbott’s Frozen Custard announced it will open a store at Manor Crossing, the company’s retail broker said the shop will have a new H-E-B in Manor. H-E-B confirmed to MySA in 2022 that “while we have an interest in expanding to serve Manor, we do not have a commitment to build a store at this time.”

However, times have changed. After countless petitions from Manor residents and reported food deserts in the city’s past, it would be no surprise if H-E-B were to continue its expansion with a store into Manor. The City of Manor is also home to Tesla’s Gigafactory and has seen substantial economic growth with its close proximity to Austin.

“We’ve got Samsung to the north; we’ve got Tesla and all they’ve got going to the south,” Morris told the Statesman. “We’re in the perfect location with the employees of not only those companies, but also the suppliers that are joining the Manor area.”

Other possible tenants at Manor Crossing will include retailers like a 20,000-square-foot Burlington, a 10,000-square-foot Dollar Tree, a 9,000-square-foot Five Below, and a 5,500-square-foot Rack Room Shoes.

Restaurants that have also signed on are Chick-fil-A, Chili’s, Chipotle, Panera Bread, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and Jersey Mike’s Subs, just to name a few from the Statesman report.

The retail portion of the project is expected to break ground this year and open in 2025, Morris said.
