Medina County sheriff: Suspect in custody after murder at RV park near Hondo; investigation underway

Authorities say a 71-year-old was killed in a travel trailer and then the trailer was set on fire.

MEDINA COUNTY, Texas — The Medina County Sheriff’s office is investigating a murder at a Hondo-area RV park that occurred Thursday night. 

Sheriff Randy Brown said a 71-year-old man was killed in a travel trailer at the 5B RV Park on State Highway 173 and Highway 90. The travel trailer was then subsequently set on fire. 

Brown said a suspect has been placed in custody but did not identify them. Authorities also say the suspect and victim knew each other but a motive was not provided. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
