Reduced bond denied for Stephen Clare, accused of killing infant daughter in April attack

The 50-year-old man also allegedly hurt his other daughter and wife in an Alamo Heights-area home.

SAN ANTONIO — A local judge rejected a request for reduced bond submitted by the San Antonio man accused in a vicious family violence attack that left his infant daughter dead and two others recovering from injury.

Stephen Michael Clare, 50, is charged with capital murder of a child and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon stemming from the April 10 attack on the north side. His baby, Willow Clare, died that night while 2-year-old Rosalie Alice Clare was in the hospital for more than two weeks. The child’s mother was also injured in the attack, according to police.

His bond remains set at $3.5 million as of Monday afternoon, according to 437th District Court personnel. It’s unknown, however, if the Bexar County district attorney’s request that Clare be held without bond altogether is still being entertained.
