San Antonio Gunslingers fall to Frisco Fighters, 62-57

The two games with the Frisco Fighters have been decided by a total of seven points, and a combined total of 225 points scored.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Gunslingers had an out of this world battle with their in-state rival the Frisco (Star) Fighters on Star Wars Night Saturday at Freeman Coliseum.

The Gunslingers and Fighters traded punches all game in a back-and-forth offensive attack.

Frisco had a 59-57 lead on 1st and 10 with :47 seconds to go but a series of errors, penalties and time outs prevented them from running out the clock. They opted for a field goal from the 24-yard line with 25 seconds to go, now up by 5, 62-57.

But this is fast scoring IFL football.

On 1st and 10 with 16 seconds left from the Fighters 22-yard line the first shot at the end zone was incomplete. 2nd & 10 with 11 seconds remaining and potentially with three more shots to take the win, the game ended with an intercepted Sam Castronova pass in the end zone. May the 4th was with the Fighters as they defeated the Gunslingers 62 to 57.

The two games with the Frisco Fighters have been decided by a total of seven points, and a combined total of 225 points scored. The Gunslingers will have another shot at the Fighters on Saturday, June 29 at home to decide the series and the best in Texas title.

The San Antonio Gunslingers will saddle up and head back on the road for a trip to Albuquerque next Saturday night, May 11 at 7 p.m. to take on the Duke City Gladiators.
