SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Public Library is inviting the community to tap into the Force with a lineup of family-friendly events celebrating Star Wars Day aptly referred to as “May the Fourth.”

From lightsaber crafts to trivia nights and movie screenings, libraries across the city are hosting out-of-this-galaxy activities for all ages. Library officials say it’s all part of a broader push to bring the community together through pop culture and creativity, and to highlight the system’s extensive collection of Star Wars books, movies and music.

Las Palmas Branch Library: Festivities run Monday from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a Star Wars movie showing, scavenger hunts for kids and hands-on crafts like DIY lightsaber wands. Kids can also create galaxy jars, while adults can join in with themed treats like “Obi-Wan Kabobs.”

Johnston Branch Library: Celebrations take place Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., featuring all-day activities including puzzles, mini droid play with R2-D2 and BB-8, and lightsaber-making stations.

Westfall Branch Library: The library is hosting a Monday evening event from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., where fans can test their knowledge during Star Wars trivia before a movie screening. Participants who dress up or join trivia can snag prizes, with additional rewards for the top three finishers.
