San Antonio Park Police officer accused of assaulting family member while off-duty

He was released on bond Wednesday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio Park Police officer was arrested by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a family member, officials said. 

Rolando Lopez Jr., was arrested while off-duty and faces a charge of assault causing bodily injury to a family member. He was subsequently placed on administrative duty, according to a press release from SAPD. 

Officials said Lopez has been employed by San Antonio Park Police for 8 years. The department will be conducting an administrative investigation into the incident. 

According to online records, Lopez was booked in the Bexar County jail and his bond was set at $4,000. He was released on bond Wednesday morning. He is due to appear in court in June.
