Soldiers’ Angels honors military working dogs with care package drive in San Antonio

The nonprofit is collecting supplies for deployed K9s and their handlers during Military Appreciation Month.

Some of the military’s most dedicated service members don’t wear boots, they wear paws.

Soldiers’ Angels is launching a special care package campaign in San Antonio to support military working dogs and their handlers during Military Appreciation Month.

Timed with National Pet Week, the “Honor Military Working Dogs” initiative focuses on gathering essential supplies for deployed K9 units, whose handlers often face limited access to specialized equipment overseas.

“Our Military K9s and their handlers are vital to operations,” said Amy Palmer, president and CEO of Soldiers’ Angels. “It’s our pleasure to support them.”

The organization is asking for donations such as heavy-duty toys, grooming tools and large food and water bowls, items designed to keep working dogs healthy and mission-ready. Due to strict dietary guidelines, food and treats cannot be accepted.

Collection Items

Straight from their dog handlers, these are the most-needed Items:

  • Large bowls for food/water
  • Strong toys for power chewers
  • Grooming tools
  • Lots and lots of poop bags!

These items CANNOT be accepted and they request you DO NOT send these:

  • Dog treats or dog food of any kind. All MWDs are on specialized diets and cannot utilize treats or food outside of their diet.
