Teen girl wounded in shooting inside home on the east side, police say

Investigators say the suspect fled before officers arrived after a gun discharged inside the house.

SAN ANTONIO — A teenage girl was injured in a shooting inside a home Saturday night on the east side of San Antonio.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 10:21 p.m. to the 200 block of Rivertree for a reported shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old girl inside a bedroom suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her lower extremity.

Police say they were told a suspect’s gun discharged and struck the teen.

Investigators have not said what led up to the shooting.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the 39-year-old male suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and no arrests have been made.

The investigation remains active.
