SAN ANTONIO — Just about every week I’ve put out a Facebook call on my “Vinnie KENS 5” Facebook page if anyone has anything Spurs’y’ going on and one of the many folks I heard from was Robert and Athelma Reyes on the south side of the city. And they have quite the unique design!
One of their relatives sent me some pictures and I was, like, okay that’s awesome! Let’s do this! So I drove up and sure enough, there was their “Spurs Barn.”
It’s awesome! And they love folks coming by to see it! And there’s a slight fake-out to go along with it. It’s not actually a barn. It’s a wood wall! Like a movie set piece! But you’d really never know driving up on it, and that’s what makes it great!
I visited with Robert and Athelma about their fun little creation.
“We decorate for all seasons and with the Spurs being in the playoffs I said we have to something for the Spurs,” Athlema said. “So we decided to do our display to honor our San Antonio Spurs,” she added.
“KB Homes let me have all their recycled wood that they were gonna throw away,” said Robert. “It’s all recycled election signs,” he added.
The Reyes’ told us they want everyone in the community to enjoy the design and are comfortable if anyone wants to drive by and see it.
“We’re located at 134 East Villaret, so come on by and share your Spurs spirit with us,” she said.
