BCSO: 67-year-old man arrested, accused of having sex with teen boy

The man is currently being booked in the Bexar County jail and will be facing a charge of sexual assault of a child.

SAN ANTONIO — A 67-year-old man was arrested after being accused of having sex with a teenage boy, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said at a Saturday night press conference.

Salazar did not identify the suspect but said he was arrested after the teen’s mother reported the incident.

The sheriff said a woman couldn’t find her 16-year-old son, prompting her to track him using the Life360 app and questioned him upon his return home. The teen confessed he had met up with the older man and engaged in sexual activity with him. The teen said he met the man through social media.

BCSO then went to the suspect’s house on Riel Road and the suspect was brought in for questioning, where he provided information that lead to his arrest, authorities said.

Salazar stated that the department has seen several recent cases where adults prey on children but praised the mother for tracking her son and reporting the allegations.

“We’re seeing case after case after case of folks preying upon young kids, online solicitation of minors. Seems like every couple days, I’m up here talking about another case of online solicitation of a minor, and it’s unfortunate that it’s something that continues to occur,” the sheriff said.

The man is currently being booked in the Bexar County jail and will be facing a charge of sexual assault of a child.
