SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio mother is asking for the public’s help as the search continues for her missing 15-year-old son, who disappeared more than two weeks ago.
Jacob Diaz was last seen April 19 after being dropped off at his family’s home on the city’s northeast side, according to his mother, Daisy Rodriguez. Surveillance video from the home shows the teen arriving, entering briefly, and then leaving again with only the clothes he was wearing.
“I’m very worried and I’m praying,” Rodriguez said.
She said Jacob appeared to leave as if he were going to meet friends but never returned.
“He didn’t take anything with him,” Rodriguez said. “He looked like he was just going to go hang out with a friend and just never came back home.”
Rodriguez said her son does not have a phone, making it difficult to track his whereabouts. While Jacob has run away before, she said those instances were brief and he always returned home.
“This has never happened for this long,” she said.
The San Antonio Police Department is investigating the disappearance but has not identified any leads, Rodriguez said.
“The police don’t know anything. There’s no leads,” she said.
Rodriguez described Jacob as friendly and outgoing, someone who often walks around the neighborhood and visits a nearby gas station, where he talks with people.
She said she is especially concerned because Jacob requires daily medication and medical supervision. He has a heart condition and was scheduled for a CT scan that has now been missed. He also takes five medications daily, including for mental health needs.
“He hasn’t had those medications,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez is urging anyone who may have seen her son or has information about his whereabouts to contact authorities.
“We love him, we miss him, and we want him back home safe and sound,” she said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the San Antonio Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660.
