Man dies in rescue attempt from tree in floodwaters on J Street, firefighters say

Crews pulled the man from high water on San Antonio’s east side Tuesday morning.

SAN ANTONIO — A man has died in a rescue attempt from a tree after becoming stranded in high, moving water Tuesday morning on San Antonio’s east side.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department, crews were called around 6:58 a.m. to the 3500 block of J Street in the Salado Creek area for a reported drowning emergency.

Firefighters say they found an adult man stuck in a tree surrounded by rushing water and safely rescued him from the scene.

The man did not survive.

Authorities described the man as an adult male.

No additional details were immediately released.
