One man killed, another wounded in connected overnight shootings, police say

Investigators believe both shootings stemmed from the same disturbance near Guadalupe Street.

SAN ANTONIO — One man was killed and another was wounded in what police believe were connected shootings early Sunday morning on San Antonio’s west side.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 4:37 a.m. to the 1600 block of Guadalupe Street for a reported shooting in progress.

When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told police an unknown disturbance happened before the gunfire erupted, and the suspect or suspects fled.

While officers were still investigating that scene, another shooting was reported at the 2100 block of Zarzamora Street.

Police say a 22-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. Investigators believe he had just left the original shooting location when both he and his vehicle were struck by gunfire.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

No arrests have been made, and detectives are working to determine who was involved and what led to the violence.

The investigation remains active.
