Police searching for driver who hit motorcyclist in Castle Hills, leaving him lying in the street

Police say his injuries could’ve been worse had he not been wearing his helmet.

CASTLE HILLS, Texas — Police are searching for the driver who hit a motorcyclist in Castle Hills, then took off and left him lying in the street early Monday morning.

Castle Hills Police were dispatched to the Loop 410 acess road in between Blanco Road and Northwest Military Highway for reports of an motorcycle accident around 2:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the victim in the street with serious injuries and believe he was hit from behind. Police say his injuries could’ve been worse had he not been wearing his helmet.

Police said his bike was damaged and the impact caused the driver to fall off. However, no other vehicle was found at the scene during their investigation.

Crashes like this is why the Texas Department of Transportation is raising motorcycle awarness with their Share the Road campaign.

TXDOT says that 599 motorcyclists were killed in motor vehicle crashes and 2,483 motorcyclists were seriously injured in the state of Texas in 2023.

You can help stop these rising numbers by always looking twice for motorcycles.

Police are working to track down who may have hit this biker. If you know or saw anything, call police.

This is a developing story.
