Suspect taken into custody after officers injured during physical altercation on south side, SAPD says

A 24-year-old man was arrested after allegedly assaulting two officers during a physical altercation on San Antonio’s south side early Saturday morning, SAPD says.

SAN ANTONIO — A 24-year-old man was arrested early Saturday after police officers were injured during a physical altercation on the city’s south side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

Police said officers responded around 3:19 a.m. to the 7300 block of South Zarzamora Street after an “officer in trouble” call was issued.

According to SAPD, officers already on scene were involved in a physical altercation with a group of individuals when additional units arrived.

SAPD said the suspect, identified as a 24-year-old male, then assaulted two more officers, causing injuries. The extent of the officers’ injuries was not immediately released.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody shortly after the confrontation.

The investigation is ongoing.
