The Spurs face the Timberwolves for the first postseason clash in 25 years, with fans urged to wear vibrant shirts honoring San Antonio’s Fiesta tradition.
SAN ANTONIO — Monday is the big night. The Spurs will be doing battle with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the post-season for the first time in 25 years.
After the first round’s definitive statement from the Spurs in their series against the Portland Trail Blazers, the team will be tested against yet another formidable opponent.
And to give the team the best chance at victory, the fans need to be decked out to the nines in support of the Silver and Black. Every home playoff game so far has given out free t-shirts with each seat purchased, with heavy pressure for fans to “Wear the Shirt.”
Game 1 of the first series featured bright pink, orange and blue shirts in honor of the Spurs Fiesta tradition. It was also smack in the middle of Fiesta, San Antonio’s 11-party with a purpose. The colors got national attention, with many noting how it was an especially appropriate way to make San Antonio’s return to playoffs action.
The shirts for Game 1 of the second series against the Timberwolves also features the pink, organy and blue, with a slightly different logo design.
Below is our first look at the shirts draped over the arena seats, ready to welcome the fans.
The first round’s “Go Spurs Go” motif featuring the team’s logo replaced by “Spurs Basketball,” outlined with the familiar elements of the team’s Fiesta edition jerseys.
Game 1 is set for Monday at 8:30 p.m. The game is streaming on the Peacock app and the NBC Sports app.
