Man stabbed at downtown bus stop in suspected robbery attempt

Police say the victim was attacked by three suspects and remains in critical condition.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is fighting for his life after a violent overnight attack in downtown San Antonio.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called around 12:40 a.m. Sunday to the 200 block of West Commerce Street.

Investigators say the man was waiting at a nearby bus stop when three unknown suspects approached and began assaulting him.

At some point during the attack, the victim was stabbed multiple times. The suspects then fled the scene.

The man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the attack may have been an attempted robbery.

Authorities searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. Only a vague description has been released.

SAPD says its Night CID unit is continuing to investigate.
