SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A man who was shot and killed outside his home Tuesday night was intervening in a fight involving several teens, one of whom was his daughter, according to San Antonio police.
Shell casings in the middle of the street in the 200 block of Moraima Street showed more than half a dozen shots were fired.
Gabriel Campos Gonzales, 54, was struck multiple times and died at a hospital.
Police initially said he was stabbed and shot. However, a later report described the incident as a shooting.
A woman in the West Side neighborhood told KSAT 12 News she had passed by the home shortly before the violence and noticed what looked like a peaceful family cookout.
According to a police report, a group of teens drove up in a car at some point and began fighting with two teen girls at the home.
The report said after Gonzales got in the middle of the fight, someone pulled out a gun and shot him.
The report mentioned that the identity of the shooter is unknown. However, officers at the scene said they obtained video showing the shooting suspect.
As of late Wednesday morning, police had not made any arrests.
