Red-light crash sends multiple people to hospital on southwest side of town

Police say a driver ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle at Southwest Military Drive and New Laredo Highway, sending multiple people to hospitals.

SAN ANTONIO — Several people were taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle crash on San Antonio’s southwest-side early Sunday, according to police.

The San Antonio Police Department says officers responded around 1:12 a.m. to the intersection of Southwest Military Drive and New Laredo Highway for a major accident.

Investigators say a 35-year-old man was driving eastbound on Southwest Military Drive when he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle that was trying to turn onto New Laredo Highway.

Authorities say the drivers and passengers from both vehicles were evaluated at the scene before being taken to local hospitals for further medical evaluation.

Police have not released information about the severity of the injuries.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
